The Jack Melton Native Azalea, a Rhododendron flammeum, dominates the landscape when it blooms in spring with its abundant ball-like clusters of red buds that open to truly amazing vivid red flowers. The large clusters of 15 or more funnel-shaped flowers with showy stamens to 2 inches long are truly a site to behold, and will surely draw attention. Selected by Earl Sommerville and what we think is one of the best in the Sommerville Collection.
