Description
Suitably named, the ‘Green Twister’ Coneflower will grab lots of attention from you and your guests, including the butterflies, with her highly unusual flowers. Not only is this a one-of-a-kind coneflower, each flower is unique. The large, 4-inch daisy-like flowers have twisting petals in shades of green, pink and purple hues that surround a prominent bronze-orange cone. Perched atop tall strong stems, these dazzling coneflowers start appearing in early to mid summer continuing to late summer or early fall, depending on your location and climate. A truly beautiful and impressive display in the garden and in cut flower flower arrangements. As with other versions of our North American native coneflowers, Green Twister is an easy-to-grow and low maintenance hardy perennial that is drought tolerant when established and which deer tend to turn their nose up to.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing upright to 3 to 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide, the Green Twister Coneflower is ideal for use as an accent or grouping in sunny to lightly shaded perennial and woodland borders where it will naturalize if some spent flowers/seedheads are left on the plant towards the end of the flowering season. A fine addition to butterfly, cut flower, cottage, wildflower and pink or purple theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 2 feet apart for mass plantings
Growing Preferences
Green Twister Coneflower is easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. It is an adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. It will grow in most any moist to somewhat dry and well-drained soil of average fertility and flowers best in full sun but will also do well and bloom in part shade. Spent flowers can be removed through the bloom season. That said, the might self-sow if some spent flowers/seed heads are left on the plant towards the end of the flowering season.
