Spacing:Â 24-36″ for mass plantings or solid borders, 10 feet apart for space between plants
Growing 4 to 6 feet tall and spreading to 6 feet or more wide, Bog Salvia is an ideal choice for use in wet or boggy areas of the landscape. That said, it tolerates temporary dry conditions. It is ideal for use to plant near or around plants that attract deer, to repel them. A fine addition to butterfly and pollination gardens, bog gardens, cottage gardens, sunny or partially shaded woodland borders, widflower gardens, and blue color theme gardens. Looks great near the garden pond or other bodies of water.
Spacing Suggestions: 2 to 3 feet apart for mass plantings or solid borders
Note:Â Â For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this Salvia species is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Bog Sage grows best in a consistently moist soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. Will tolerate dry periods but flowers best with a moist soil. Cut to the ground before spring.
