Description
A favorite shrub around the world, the Baggesen’s Gold Box Leaf Honeysuckle features dainty, golden-yellow evergreen boxwood-like leaves on cascading branches that form a dense, soft-textured mound 3 to 5 feet tall and wide which lights up the garden. Responds very well to shearing so is an excellent candidate for stunning hedges or various topiary shapes in landscape beds or containers.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 5 feet tall and wide, Baggesen’s Gold Boxleaf Honeysuckle is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings, or as a formal or natural hedge in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. Also a great candidate for creating living topiary shapes and forms. A fine selection for Asian or English gardens, formal gardens, topiary gardens, yellow color theme gardens, or container gardens.
Â
Suggested Spacing:Â 2 to 3 feet apart for solid hedges;Â 7 feet or more for space between plants
Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of  USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this box leaf honeysuckle is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Baggesen’s Gold Box Leaf Honeysuckle is very easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. In zones 6 and 7 it will grow in full sun however prefers some afternoon shade or filtered sun in zones 8 and 9. Foliage will be brighter yellow with more sun. It will tolerate dry periods when established. Responds very well to shearing for topiary shapes and formal hedges. In our gardens, we’ve found it to have excellent resistance to pests and disease.

Nice specimen! Can’t wait til the little guy grows up. A great addition to my estate entry.———————————————–We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! Thanks for the great review! Beth | WBG 🙂
I’ve been looking for the gold boxleaf honeysuckle locally and haven’t been able to find it until I ran across Wilson Bros Gardens. The 3 plants were in excellent condition and the packaging was superb. Will order more plants from Wilson’s. Thanks! ———————— WBG Reply: Hi Sandra – Thanks so much for your review of the Baggesons Gold Boxleaf Honeysuckle plants and we hope you enjoy them for years to come. I have several of these I planted in my gardens about 8 year ago in McDonough, GA (near you) and they’ve done great over the years. In our area they like some shade or filetered sun in the afternoon. Morning and/or evening sun is fine. Let us know if there’s ever anything else we can help you with. We’re at your service! – Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens
